    Chest Guards

    Chest guards and rib guards are staple pieces of gear for taekwondo and karate sparring and training. Their primary purpose is to cover and pad the ribs and stomach area. Some chest guards, like the taekwondo hogu, are reversible and have two different-colored sides to identify different competitors or teams in tournaments. In many cases, tournaments will mandate the use of approved gear. For example, the Punok Chest Guard is World Karate Federation and Panamerican Karate Federation approved, and can be used in any tournament overseen by those entities.
